PTF BPI 2026 Announcement | Data Science Institute

The University of Tennessee, School of Natural Resources ‘Data Science Institute’ will be hosting PTF BPI 2026 at St. Simons Island GA from November 9-11, 2026. This upcoming conference will be the 11th edition of the successful PTF BPI International Conference series.  PTF BPI provides a unique conference platform for networking about applied technologies and innovation between industry and academia. The previous PTF BPI 2023 at St. Simons Island had eight keynote speakers from industry, 36 technical papers, and participation of more than 25 companies from the forest products industry. Participants in 2023 also enjoyed a golf tournament on Monday afternoon and a technical workshop on ‘Introduction to Adhesives.’

PTF BPI 2026 Opening Session Speakers | Data Science Institute


The Data Science Institute’s mission is to advance education and research in the data sciences for industries that grow, manage, harvest, and utilize wood and fiber resources. The Data Science Institute is housed within the University of Tennessee School of Natural Resources (SNR). This Institute will apply concepts of data science, machine learning, and AI for the advanced optimization of processes to improve profitability of businesses through variation reduction and costs savings from sustainable target size reductions.

Focus areas will be:

  • Industry-focused webinars, training, and workshops in data analytics, machine learning, and AI
  • Direct applications in manufacturing of data science, machine learning, and AI
  • Student education

Members will have the opportunity to interact with UT SNR faculty, staff, and students and attend an annual conference at UT for education and in-person networking.  Member companies will be able to engage in confidential research projects with graduate student support.  An executive board will govern the Institute.
